Jays & Crows (Corvidae Family) large, sturdy songbirds with thick bills, strong legs, & loud voices. Noisy & aggressive; will mob predators. Usually travel in groups.

Description:

  • Feeds on seeds and animal prey, mostly
  • Forages on the ground
  • Gregarious and noisy- often in groups
  • Common year-round in open forests and shrub-steppe, often along rivers and streams.
  • Black head & breast
  • White scapulars on wing
  • Long black pointed tail
  • White belly
